PresidentMark Schultzel, MD, MBA
Dr. Mark Schultzel (he/him) is a shoulder and elbow surgeon and Division Chief of Orthopaedic Surgery at United Medical Doctors in San Diego, California, and Orthopaedic Surgery Chair at the Sharp Community Medical Group. He received his orthopedic surgery training at the University of Missouri, Kansas City, and completed a fellowship in shoulder and elbow surgery at the prestigious Kerlan-Jobe Orthopedic Clinic. He completed a Bachelors of Science in Biology and Bachelors of Arts in Psychology from UC San Diego, and later returned as a practicing surgeon to earn an MBA from the UCSD Rady School of Management, with specializations in marketing and international supply chain. Dr. Schultzel is the Chief Medical Officer at Modiv Health, and has participated in multiple health-tech related start-ups. He is a member of the American Shoulder and Elbow Surgeons (ASES), sitting on their Belonging and Opportunity Committee, a fellow of the American Academy of Orthopedic Surgery (AAOS) and Chair of their Shoulder and Elbow Exam Committee, and sitting on their Diversity Advisory Board and Emerging Professionals Committees, and is a fellow of the American Orthopaedic Association (AOA), serving on their Social Media/Communications Committee in the Emerging Leaders Program. He is also a team physician for the US Olympic Committee and Team USA Kendo. He believes strongly in student and trainee mentorship, and is an Associate Professor for the UCSD Department of Orthopedic Surgery, Touro University School of Medicine (CA and NV), and Rocky Mountain University. As a founding member of Pride Ortho, Dr. Schultzel is an ally who cares about making orthopedic surgery a welcoming specialty, where we gain perspective in diversity, and where we celebrate anyone who wants to pick up a hammer or an arthroscope and be a part of our team. |

Chair of EducationSarah Ballatori, MD Dr. Sarah Ballatori (she/her) is an orthopaedic oncologist at Yale School of Medicine. She graduated from Yale College with a Bachelor of Science in Molecular, Cellular, and Developmental Biology. She earned her master's degree in Biomedical Sciences and her medical degree at Tufts University School of Medicine. Following her medical training, she completed an orthopaedic surgery residency at Washington University in St. Louis. She then returned to Boston to complete her sub-specialty training in orthopaedic oncology at Harvard Medical School. Throughout her training, Sarah has held multiple leadership positions, and she was accepted into the AOA Emerging Leaders Program. She particularly enjoys teaching, and she has found her most fulfilling non-clinical opportunities to be her mentor/ mentee conversations. Sarah has served on the Pride Ortho Education Committee and has been a member of the Pride Ortho mentorship program since 2022. Sarah is thrilled to be back at Yale, now living in Guilford, CT with her wife of 8 years, their two crazy dogs, and their amazing daughter. |
Member-At-LargeJenni Buckley, PhD
Jenni M. Buckley is a Professor of Mechanical Engineering at University of Delaware, where her research and teaching interests include product design, biomechanics, and design instruction and DEI issues in engineering education. Dr. Buckley has BS (2001) in Mechanical Engineering from University of Delaware, a MS (2004) and PhD (2006) in Mechanical Engineering from UC Berkeley, and a Postdoctoral Fellowship from UCSF in Orthopaedic Surgery. She is the Co-Founder and President of The Perry Initiative, a non-profit organization dedicated to recruiting and retaining women in orthopaedics and engineering. She is also the founding co-director of The Design Studio at University of Delaware, a nationally recognized academic makerspace for training engineers. Dr. Buckley lives in Delaware with her wife, Dr. Amy Trauth, two awesome kids, Galen and Addy, and a pack of animals, including her hands-down favorite, Sir Isaac Newton (the cat).

Dr. Namm is an Orthopaedic Trauma surgeon at St. Francis Hospital, a level 1 trauma center in Hartford, CT, and assistant professor at University of Connecticut School of Medicine. He received his undergraduate degree in biochemistry and economics at New York University prior to completing medical school, also at NYU. He completed his orthopaedic residency at the University of Texas Medical Branch in Galveston, TX followed by an orthopaedic trauma fellowship at Washington University in St. Louis. He subsequently returned home to the northeast where he was born and raised. He serves on the OTA diversity committee and moral injury, advocacy and physician wellness committee. He is passionate about LGBTQ+ advocacy and representation, especially within the field of orthopaedics. He spends his free time with family and friends and enjoys the outdoors and traveling the world.

Ezra Goodrich (he/him) is an orthopedic surgery resident at Henry Ford Health in Detroit, Michigan. He earned his Bachelor of Arts in Biology from Bethel College in North Newton, Kansas, and went on to earn his medical degree from the University of Kansas in Kansas City. In addition to serving as the Chair of Communications, he also serves on the Pride Ortho Mentorship Committee and the Henry Ford Orthopedics Diversity, Equity, and Inclusion Committee. Ezra is an out and proud queer, transgender man, hoping to provide representation for LGBTQ+ folks within orthopedics. Ezra shares his home with a multitude of pets, and enjoys spending time away from the hospital at the local rock-climbing gym.

Chair of DevelopmentTyler Tetreault, MD
Tyler Tetreault (he/him) is a pediatric spine surgeon at Children's Hospital Los Angeles in Los Angeles, CA. He completed his undergraduate studies in Biophysics at the University of Pennsylvania and obtained his medical degree from Tufts University School of Medicine. During his residency training at the University of Colorado, he completed a pediatric orthopedics fellowship at CHLA, followed by a complex adult spine surgery super-fellowship at the University of Colorado. Clinical interests include pediatric cervical spine deformity, pediatric trauma, and early onset scoliosis. He is an MBA candidate at the University of Southern California Marshall School of Business. As a transgender man who transitioned during residency, he is dedicated to improving LGBTQ+ representation in orthopedics. He serves as a member of the Diversity, Equity, and Inclusion working-group for the CHLA Department of Surgery. He married his wife in 2021 and together they enjoy camping, cooking, and spending time with their two dogs.

Co-Chair of ResearchAliya Feroe, MD
Aliya Feroe (she/they) is an orthopedic surgery resident at Mayo Clinic in Rochester, Minnesota. She completed her undergraduate studies in Biology at Bowdoin College in Maine. She subsequently earned her medical and public health degrees from Harvard Medical School and the Harvard School of Public Health, respectively. Alongside her residency training and role as the Chair of Research, Aliya serves on the Mayo Clinic Department of Orthopedic Surgery Diversity, Equity, and Inclusion Committee. Early clinical interests include pediatric hand surgery and hand trauma. Outside of residency, Aliya enjoys exploring new breweries, hiking with her puppy Maverick, and biking around Southeastern Minnesota.

Co-Chair of MentorshipBrianna Fram, MD
Dr. Fram (she/her) is an orthopedic trauma surgeon and Assistant Professor at Yale University School of Medicine in New Haven, Connecticut. She received her undergraduate degree in biology from the University of Pennsylvania prior to completing medical school at Washington University in St. Louis School of Medicine. She completed orthopedic residency at Thomas Jefferson University with the renowned Rothman Orthopaedic Institute, followed by an orthopedic trauma fellowship at Carolinas Medical Center in Charlotte, NC. She spends her time treating patients at a busy Level 1 trauma center, teaching, and performing research. Dr. Fram believes every single person should feel comfortable pursuing a career in orthopedics regardless of their background or identity, as long as they are committed to hard work and the furthering of the field.

Co-Chair of MentorshipGregory Brown, MD, PhD
Dr. Brown (he/him/his) is a general orthopaedic surgeon practicing in a critical access hospital in Williston, ND. He is a professional coach with extensive education and experience in coaching competencies recognized through the International Coaching Foundation. As faculty, he taught orthopaedic residents for 15 years at the University of Minnesota Department of Orthopaedic Surgery. Dr. Brown has experience in mentoring for multiple orthopaedic organizations including the Ruth Jackson Orthopaedic Society, Nth Dimensions, American Association of Latino Orthopaedic Surgeons, and J. Robert Gladden Orthopaedic Society. He has extensive leadership experience including Associate Chief of Surgery at Park Nicollet Health Services in St. Louis Park, MN; Orthopaedics & Spine Service Line Leadership Dyad at CHI Franciscan Health System, Tacoma, WA; and past president of the Minnesota Orthopaedic Society and Washington State Orthopaedic Association.
| Operations ManagerKaitlyn Beck, MS
Kaitlyn Beck (she/her) serves as the Operations Manager for Pride Ortho. She earned her Bachelor of Science in Athletic Training from the University of Kansas and went on to complete a Master’s in Exercise Science and Nutrition, with a concentration in Exercise Science, at South Dakota State University. Currently, Kaitlyn is the Lead Athletic Trainer at University Health Medical Center, where she collaborates with an orthopedic surgeon and nurse practitioner to provide comprehensive care for patients with orthopedic injuries. She specializes in total joint replacements and is dedicated to advancing patient care while advocating for greater recognition of Athletic Training as a vital profession. Outside of her professional work, Kaitlyn enjoys spending quality time with her husband and their three dogs, embracing family time and reality tv as her favorite way to recharge.
